So I figured out why they had to raise the floor three feet in order to put the basketball floor in the center of Ford Field . . .

. . . because if they hadn’t, I would have been watching 10 floating heads bob around the court for two hours yesterday. This photo was [...]

It’s been four months and eight days since this blog sprung into being. During that time:

I’ve put up 176 posts (1.26 per day on a tempo-free basis!)
You’ve left 656 comments
There’ve been over 34,000 hits on the blog

Readership has increased steadily throughout the season–beyond what I could have reasonably expected going into this.

What’s say, we talk about some college basketball teams not hailing from East Lansing today . . .
Big Ten Roundup

Tony Bennett to Bloomington? That’d be a fine move for Indiana based on what I know about Bennett. But, from a Spartan perspective, I’d rather see them go with a more up-tempo guy [...]

. . . when your team goes on a 17-0 run and the needle on the odds-of-winning-the-game meter barely budges from zero.

It’s time once again for America’s fastest-growing basketball blog sensation: Coffee Talk.
This week’s question is pretty straightforward: Now that we’ve dissected the Memphis Tiger basketball team every way I know how to, what do you think the keys are to a Spartan victory Friday night?
To spur discussion, here’s an excellent scouting report on the Tigers [...]

Anyone notice how much love Goran Suton is getting in the media this week?
Suton responds after being main target of Izzo’s ire (LSJ)
MSU’s Suton is blossoming at last (Detroit News)
MSU’s Suton playing with passion (Mlive)
From the Mlive article:
What coach Tom Izzo told the group 24 hours before playing Wisconsin, while important, was nonetheless unremarkable.
For some [...]

Friday night, 9:57 pm (or shortly thereafter). Reliant Stadium, Houston. CBS.
Since we’ve already spent the last few days looking at Memphis, I’m going to stick mainly to the numbers tonight.
Memphis comes in at 35-1 on the season, the only loss being to Tennessee by a score of 66-62 on February 13. The [...]

There’s a third Big Ten team still alive in postseason play. Eleven Warriors has a preview of Ohio State’s NIT quarterfinal match-up tonight (9:00, ESPN2) against in-state rival Dayton. Apparently, Dayton coach Brian Gregory wasn’t allowed to get any help from his former boss in preparing for the Buckeyes.  Note also Gregory’s moxie [...]
