Welcome to the Brand New Spartans Weblog

May 31, 2008 by kj

. . . which, you’ll note, looks almost exactly like the old Spartans Weblog. Nevertheless, this is, in fact, a brand new site from a technical perspective, which has two implications:

  • You should update your bookmark to http://www.spartansweblog.com.
  • If you were subscribed to the RSS feed for the old site, you’ll need to resubscribe to the new feed here (click on the “Feed on Posts” link in the upper, right-hand corner).

Those steps will ensure you’ll get to see all the superfantastic tempo-free Spartan goodness to come, none of which will appear at the old WordPress address.  (I’ll keep the existing content up there for a while to redirect folks who arrive there via searches/links/etc., but none of the new content will show up.)

For your troubles, here’s another update on Neitzel’s performance in Orlando.  This is for day 3 of the camp (yesterday–the final day?):

Michigan State’s Drew Neitzel had a solid performance, finishing with 11 points and four assists. Neitzel is a little quicker than advertised and has some point skills, after playing mostly off the ball at Michigan State this past season. His chances rest on his ability to make perimeter shots, something he can do when he’s open. For Neitzel, whether he makes the NBA is going to be all about fit.

Neitzel may actually be better off not getting drafted, as that would allow him to find a team where he’d be a good fit–for example, a team with a playmaker at at wing spot so that the pressure isn’t on the point guard to create offense.  Regardless, he may have to work his way up from the D-league or other outlying basketball areas, ala Charlie Bell.

There you go.  It isn’t much.  Eventually, the new self-hosted platform will allow for some nifty new features . . . I think . . . maybe.

[…] scour the draft list from last night, Drew Neitzel went undrafted.  As noted by Joe Rexrode (and previously asserted here), this may be for the best, as Neitzel will be able to find the best fit for an NBA team to try out […]
