I would have liked to see Lucas bring it back out instead of taking the lay up. What is the difference between that play and Tucker’s dunk?We did not play well. This is the difference between being a State fan and a Wisky fan. A Wisky fan would be perfectly happy with this win. I am not satisfied with this win.
Chris, with all due respect, I think you’re crazy if you’re not happy with this win. We fought through all kinds of adversity, dominated the closing end of the game, and for God’s sake, it was against Wisconsin, our uber-bogeyman. At this point, I’m happy with _any_ win against them.
You are right Ben. I am happy with the win. I guess I’m just concerned down the road. I don’t see this team making a deep run in the tourney. However, I wrote earlier in the year that I would rather have a B10 championship than a Final Four, and this win certainly helps that!
I wonder if Izzo liked the killer instinct he saw at the end of this game. It was there, they dominated a less-talented opponent for the last 10 minutes or so after being badly outplayed for the first 30.
I don’t think one can underestimate the importance of the win today. If we had lost, particularly playing as poorly as we did in the first half, we would have been on the road to an implosion. Maybe more than any other game this season, today’s game provided the opportunity to grow and learn as a team. It was an example of what happens when you play carelessly and what transpires when you exert your will on each possession. I truly hope there is carryover in future games from the second half. It is still too early to claim the Big Ten championship, but a loss today would have likely been the start of an ugly unraveling.
